The Real Jesus of Nazareth

One of my favorite movies of all time was Franco Zeffirelli's "Jesus of Nazareth." The 1977 film with Robert Powell as Jesus. What I liked about this movie was that it was so real to me the first time I saw it. I was a kid about 12 years old when it first was on tv in the USA. This movie was so good. Everything in it from the actors to the costumes and all of the props, scenery and so forth was really terrific. I was caught up into the movie. As a child watching this film for the first time it really impacted me in a positive way. I've seen the movie dozens of times now since then.

The actors were so good. It wasn't just Robert Powell, but all of them. Olivia Hussey as Mary the mother of Jesus; Ernest Borgnine as the Roman Centurion; James Farentino as Peter; Laurence Olivier as Nicodemus; and so on.

I think this was the best "Jesus" film of all time. Each scene was directed to perfection. A lot of time and money was put into this movie. And they did an incredible job.

Now, I said all this so you will know what I really think of the movie and to say this: In all of Robert Powells great efforts in portraying Jesus, If you put him next to the real Jesus, he (Robert Powell) would look like a weak nothing!

It must be impossible for any actor to truly portray Jesus, because Jesus is so full of power! ...He is so full of the Holy Spirit! ...He is so full of Love, ...that He would draw all people to Himself.

People everywhere would be so attracted to His love if they saw Him. If He played himself in a movie everyone would go see it. All of our attention would be focused on Him and His love for us. It would be ...like heaven!

And thats part of what heaven will be like. We, ...those who believe, will one day get to see Jesus! We will see His face. And we will get to see what it will be like to be with Him, everywhere He goes and whatever He does. We will be there!

Mark 12:29-31

"29And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:

30And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

31And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these." -Mark 12:29-31

New addition to WordofTruth blog

Today, I just added the FEEDJIT Live Traffic Map to my blog! This should make for an interesting widget. I have been wondering who was stopping by thinking not many were. Once I added this feature immediately I noticed I got a visitor from across the world. Without this widget, I would never know that person visited my site. If you don't have this widget on your blog, I suggest you get it. It truly is "eyes and ears" for you, seeing visitors you wouldn't normally notice. For me, after having my blog for only 1 week, it is an encouragement. Now I know I'm actually getting traffic I didn't know about.

Seeking God

How do we really seek God? You know usually I find myself seeking His hand or his handouts! But what does it take to seek His face? After 22 years of being a Christian I find that I don't always seek His face.

Seeking the face of God is to seek a closer walk with Him to develop that relationship with him that was started when we accepted him as savior.

He is our provider. He is our Father. He is our everything. So it is easy to just mumble off prayers about our needs without actually taking the time to wait on him. To get to know him more personally.

The scripture says, "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." -Matthew 6:33

So this is what is required. We have to make the conscience choice to set aside time to do this. You can set aside an hour a day for instance, and/or one day a week devoted to seeking Him. Turn off the tv, the internet, the cell phone, etc... This is hard for those of us who have addictions to those things. So it may be necessary for us to re-prioritize our life. Addictions are a form of idol worship anyway. So break those habits, and wait on God instead. It may be necessary to conduct a fast in order to jump start this process.

When we begin to seek Him, we can anoint ourself with oil, and ask him to cover us in the blood of Jesus. Then invite His Holy Spirit to fill us and guide us in our prayer time. Put on some worship music and begin to praise and worship Him. (this does not mean contemporary "Christian" rock.) Make sure to repent of everything that may have displeased Him. Make sure to forgive everyone who hurt you. You can even take communion.

All of these things will deepen your walk with God. By doing these things you are actively making room in your life for the one who went to the cross on your behalf. This is one way you can love Him back and show Him that you truly appreciate what He has done for you.

Bible Tip

The Holy Bible is the Word of God.

This means that the men who penned the words of the scriptures were holy men of God inspired and controlled by God in what they wrote. God supernaturally preserved their writings over the ages and allowed them to be assembled into what we now know to be the bible.

The Word of God is not just a book with pages and ink.

"It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life." -John 6:63

"1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God" -John 1:1

"14And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." -John 1:14

The Bible is true.

Welcome to my newest blog followers!!

I would like to welcome my newest two followers to my blog who joined recently! PJ from PJ's Prayer line http://pjsprayerline.blogspot.com/, and Sherida Kuffour of Coconut and Cream http://coconutandcream.blogspot.com/. I have seen both of your blogs and I think they look absolutely fantastic! PJ's blog is packed full of content. You could spend all day in there! And Sherida's has really nice photography. The site is professionally and artistically done. It looks real nice. I will be coming back to both of your blogs a lot. Thank you both for following my blog. Sherida, I have a scripture for your two atheist classmates you wrote about in your "Stop forcing your religion unto me" blog article. Here it is: "The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good." -Psalm 53:1 (Psalm 14:1 says the same thing.)
Thanks again to the both of you! I sense that God is using both of you in a very special and big way!

Isaiah 40:31

"But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." -Isaiah 40:31

Psalm 23

"1The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

2He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

3He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

5Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever." -Psalm 23

Plague of Frogs?

It was requested that I post about this new plague that hit Greece.

What the heck is up with the frogs? Lol! Man if you ever got a hint from God that it is time to repent, this type of plague should be pretty darn obvious!

First they needed a major financial bailout. And now they have more frogs than money! Something is going on with Greece. But it's not just Greece. There is stuff happening all over the world. We got earthquakes, tornado's in Oklahoma, a flood in Nashville, Oil in the gulf, a Volcano in Iceland, and on and on...

I see that the governments of the world have been secretly working together to bring about a New World Order. ...A One World Global government! Don't kid yourself. This thing is very real. People want to stay in their comfort zones and pretend nothing is happening because they have been brainwashed by the commercials and tv shows.

Everything is unfolding just like the Bible warned us it would. Maybe it will happen slower than I think. But It is definitely happening. Instead of the world instantly changing over night, it is changing slowly. One thing happens at a time. Then when we get over that thing, another thing happens. Each of these things being another step toward a One World Dictatorship.

To some this sounds like I'm nuts. But those people have been blinded by their sin. It should be obvious that God is working through a lot of these crisis's to bring people to repentance. Jesus is soon to return! Are you ready?

Read the book of Revelation. It may be hard to understand, but there is a lot in there about what will take place in the end times which we are in now! There are many Christian Prophetic ministries out there that explain a lot of what is happening in relation to the Bible. We must be prepared!

The Judgement of God

The following article is a true story that is an experience I had personally. It is too important for me to keep to myself. I believe it serves as a warning to the church today.

There was a small church that I was attending a couple of years ago. There was a bible study group in that church for everyone above the age of 30 that I was apart of. There was this man in his late 50's,...we'll call him "Todd"(not his real name.) Well Todd had some problems. He had a serious history of drug abuse, and a lot of medical issues. He was what most "normal" groups would consider to be the "least" of the "lower", and many people in church avoided him. There was a church counseling program that Todd went to. And his mentor was an elder of the church. We'll call him "Hank". (Also not his real name.) Well Todd was born with Asthma, and one day he got pneumonia on top of it. He ended up in the Hospital coughing up blood and in real trouble. He was dying. I decided to call him to check on him. He told me from his hospital bed that no one in the church came to visit him. I decided that was important for me to do. Also I called Hank the church elder to tell him that Todd was dying in the hospital and no one visited him from the church. Well Hank the elder replied, "some of them just fall through the cracks." That's right! I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I couldn't understand how this high ranking church leader could be so cold. I visited Todd in the hospital, and he cried because I was the only one in a week to visit from the church which was his only spiritual family. That following evening I attended a mens group to recruit people who would visit Todd with me. Much to my shock and disbelief the leader who was somebody other than the elder,(call him Bob) said to me in a hateful tone, "We're not going to visit you in the hospital, we have too many other important things to do." I left that group that evening in disbelief of the hypocrisy I had witnessed. That leader(Bob) and some other guys there repented by the next day and went with me to visit Todd.

Well, Todd recovered enough to get out of the hospital. He didn't recover completely, just enough to get out. He still had an oxygen tank with him and so forth.

And the elder,...well the elder Hank died within a year of that incident!

I found it real interesting to see that these two men, Todd and Hank switched places completely.

I quit going to that church.

" 41Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

42For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:

43I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.

44Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?

45Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.

46And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal." -Matthew 25:41-46

Bible Tip

Did you know that the very first publication of the King James Bible was in the year 1611. And that it included an apocrypha? (Todays modern versions including the King James now do not have the apocrypha.) The apocryphal books were discontinued in the year 1885, which is not that long ago considering the length of time the Holy scriptures have been in existence.

WordofTruth blog Celebrating 1 week since beginning

Just a little note to celebrate 1 week completed, since this blog started! Today begins week 2. I'm not going to celebrate this every single week of course. Maybe when a month completes, then a year, and then every year. It's nice just to see how things have progressed in that time frame. In one week I had 26 posts, launched the Word of Truth Bookstore
Got my first and second follower. You know, I have been on Twitter shorter than I've had this blog and yet I have 9 followers so far there but only 2 here. Maybe they're following in secret. Lol. 2 followers in my first week isn't so bad. So, I will continue.

Ephesians 2:8-9

9Not of works, lest any man should boast." -Ephesians 2:8-9

Ephesians 2:12-14

"12That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:

13But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

14For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;" -Ephesians 2:12-14

Forgiveness

Life at times can be kind of rough. Especially when people slight us some way. (And I'm putting that lightly.) Most of the time when people do us wrong it usually rolls off our back or it's not that big of a deal and we are easily able to forgive and forget and move on. But it is the times when the hurt comes from a close friend or a loved one that we have higher expectations of. Those are the times when we get hurt the most.

As Christians we are obligated to forgive others. That's right,...I said obligated. When we accepted Jesus Christ as our savior, we made a commitment to Him to follow Him and His commands. Now if you are a person with deep hurt it may be hard for you to read that. But this is key to our healing.

I have been hurt very deeply as I know most everyone has at one time or another. The hurt for me came from various Christians. The reason it hurt is because I naturally had a higher expectation of Christians thinking that they were going to act like Christ when in reality they acted like the devil. Some times people in church can be very hateful. Maybe they don't realize what they are doing. But hate is one element of witchcraft. Maybe it's something I did to them unknowingly, and now they are getting their revenge? Who knows. Now how am I supposed to deal with the hurt? What is the hurt? Where does it come from?

Hurt or pain is a sign of communication that the body is telling us, that something is wrong. In this instance it is unforgiveness which if not dealt with can become bitterness. And bitterness can kill us!

The problem is if the hurt is real deep it can mess with our emotions making it nearly impossible to forgive. This was the devils goal in the first place, why he used a Christian or friend to hurt us. We cannot go on holding a grudge against others. So how do we forgive when we don't feel like it?

Here is an important scripture to remember:
" 25And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
26But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses. -Mark 11:25-26

...Your Father which is in heaven will NOT forgive you if you don't forgive others! ...ouch!
Well, I want God to forgive me of my sins, so I better find a way to forgive those people that hurt me. Even though I may feel like getting revenge on them, I must not. Here are two ways to help you forgive in an impossible situation:

1) Remember that your sins that you did put Jesus on the cross! You were guilty of sins, and your sins crucified the Son of God! The things that people did to you might hurt you deeply, but you are not crucified to a cross by what they did to you. If Jesus could forgive you for what you did to him, then you need to forgive others!

2) Forgiveness is a choice! In an emotionally impossible situation you CAN forgive. We do this by faith not by feelings. Despite the excruciating pain that can be caused by hurt in some instances, we can make a decision to forgive that person by faith.

Your prayer can go something like this: Father, in Jesus' name, I choose by faith to forgive so and so. This is just a little example. Your actual prayer may be longer. Then you could receive healing for the hurt. These two things have helped me tremendously. If you know somebody who is experiencing a lot of pain or hurt, please share this with them. And God bless you! Here are a couple of more scriptures for you to remember:

"36Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.
37Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:
38Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again." -Luke 6:36-38

And another:
"31Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
32And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you." -Ephesians 4:31-32

Acts 16:30,31

"30And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?

31And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house." -Acts 16:30,31

Bible Tip

Ok, so here it is the very first WordofTruth blog Bible Tip!!!

Did you know that every scripture in the bible is linked together or connected in the Spirit? Well it is! Just like the internet connecting links from one website to another, the scriptures in the bible are connected to each other!

"It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life." -John 6:63

Some times you will often see a scripture from the bible quoted by itself. It is a very important meaningful scripture, but there is always a much deeper meaning than what we see at first glance. When we learn how to prayerfully look at the references associated with that scripture then we will be able to grow in a deeper way with God!

"Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you." -Proverbs 1:23

Here is a good example of two different scriptures that can work together to make a strong and meaningful point.:

"And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart." -Jeremiah 29:13 ...and:
" 6But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." -Hebrews 11:6

Do you see how both of these scriptures are linked? They are both encouraging us to look for God? He promises to reward us when we do! The reward is finding God!

Matthew 6:19-21

"19Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

20But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

21For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." -Matthew 6:19-21

Matthew 6:24-34

" 24No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

25Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

26Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

27Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?

28And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:

29And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

30Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

31Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

32(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

33But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

34Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof." -Matthew 6:24-34

Connection between John 7:38 and Hebrews 11:6

"But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." -Hebrews 11:6

There is a connection that I would like to point out between these two scriptures John 7:38 and Hebrews 11:6. Since I was writing a little about John 7:38 yesterday with the emphasis on believing in God as the scripture says.

A lot of people know that the Bible tells us to pray. But we are not to leave it at that. When we look at Hebrews 11:6 we see that it is encouraging us to diligently seek him. So if we are obeying John 7:38 then we are going to put more into our prayer time when we also take Hebrews 11:6 to heart.

Hebrews 11:6

"But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." -Hebrews 11:6

More about John 7:38

More about John 7:38 and what it means to believe in God as the scripture says.

So what does the scripture say. We can start with the deity of Jesus Christ, His work, Life, and ministry which includes His death, burial, and resurrection. The Bible says in the gospel of John 1:1 that in the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Then in the same chapter verse 14 it says, the Word became flesh and dwelt among men. This is speaking of Jesus, that He is God born of a virgin. The scripture goes on to say all the other things I mentioned above about his life and ministry. If we know and believe that He is the Son of God then we should take His teachings to heart as such. We should believe that everything He says is true. In fact "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." -John 14:6

All these things that the bible says about Jesus, we must accept as pure truth. When it says He rose from the grave after three days of being dead and buried. It means just that. He physically came back to life and came out of the grave! I believe it!

These are just the simple basics of beginning to believe in God as the scripture says. There are many more things that we can learn about as we live our lives choosing to believe in Him and following after Him. He loves us so let us not ignore that. Lets respond to that love by giving our lives to listening to Him.

It really is not hard to believe the way God wants us to.

Continued from "A little about John 7:38"

Going back to why this scripture is so important in the first place. Most people are going to skip over scriptures that they don't understand not realizing that this one scripture is worth a billion times more than Donald Trumps net worth!
Thats right,...it is truly priceless treasure!

No one knows what a literal river of life flowing from their inner most being is like until it actually happens. Many Christians have never even experienced this. But it is here in Gods Holy Word! It is a literal promise of God given to the few who find it. And it is absolutely fantastically amazing. Nothing in this world can ever compare to the greatness of God and His Holy Spirit flowing through us.

As time goes on, I will blog about what the scripture actually says about how we are to believe in Him. This is the emphasis of John 7:38 that I am trying to point out and bring to the open where people can understand it.

A little about John 7:38

"He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water." -John 7:38

Todays scripture post. I wanted to say a little about this because it is one of my favorite scriptures and because a lot of people ignore it because they don't understand what it means.

This is so important. Many Christians already know that "rivers of living water" means the Holy Spirit. And "belly" means inner most being or your spirit.

I want to point out that this scripture doesn't just say to "believe" in God. Many people will say that they believe in God. But this scripture says more than that. It says to believe in God as the scripture says.

There is another scripture in the book of James chapter 2 verse 19 that says, "Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble."

So looking at these scriptures we can see that to "believe" means more than to agree that God exists. It means that we must believe as the scripture says.

More about this in the next post!

John 7:38

"He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water." -John 7:38

Blog Day 2

Today is day 2 of this growing blog! Besides the obvious and necessary new features that most all blogs have, I am happy to announce 2 new features that will be coming soon. At least one of them will start today. And that is that I will try to post a "daily scripture" from the King James Version of the Bible. And number 2 is that I am attempting to add a bookstore with my recommended titles.

Prayer dedication for this blog

I dedicate this blog and all of my posts to God Almighty in the name Jesus Christ. I pray that the Blood of Jesus be applied to it and against all witchcraft attacks and enforcers of those attacks that some may try to send against it. In Jesus Name I bind the lies of Satan and lift up Truth through this blog from this day forward. Let the plans and assignments of evil be canceled In Jesus name! God be glorified!

Disclaimer

I must state already even though this is the launch day of this blog, that some of the ads or videos that appear in the ad spaces are not necessarily the views shared by this blog or the author of WordofTruth blog. Unfortunately we live in a world where lies are easily spread like wildfire, and truth is aggressively quenched. This is reason more why Truth must be lifted up. And by the choice of each one a decision can be made between truth and lie. This is what makes America so great. People have the freedom to believe whatever they want,...even if it is a lie. But beware, those who choose to believe lies will come under the stranglehold of bondage thereby losing freedoms they used to have. "You shall know the truth, and the truth will make you free". -John 8:32

Summary of world events

Out of the many things that have motivated me into starting this blog are the multiple tragedies that have been happening in the world around us. You see in the news everyday. The oil spill in the gulf and how it is growing worse and uncontrollable day by day. The massive invasion of illegals and the laws being made to fight it but the President that fights the laws. The earthquakes in various places starting with Haiti. The volcano in Iceland. The mining accidents in West Virginia, Kentucky, Russia, and China. And of course the economical situation in the US and around the world. The decline of the US dollar. The coming hyper inflation. The unemployment. And so on. I don't believe this heightened pattern of disasters is going to stop or slow down anytime soon or in any of our lifetimes.

But, not to lose heart! There is hope! Despite the many things happening around us that tempt us all to become discouraged, there are many things we can do to prepare ourselves and our families from all of these things that threaten our well being.

There are spiritual things as well as practical natural steps to take. I will be using this blog to elaborate on many of them.

Tribute to the success of this blog

As I get started writing I am thinking about the many things that will be happening in these posts. I encourage you reader, to check back here often to find new things, tips on various subjects, and to see how this blog grows.
I plan on adding the many tools this site offers as well as promotions, ads, more followings, and ultimately a link to a website or many websites. I am excited in this new beginning for me and I invite you to be a part of it.
Thank you for coming here. And thank you for reading.

Foundation

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." -Jn.1:1

"And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." -Jn. 1:14

I have posted these few scriptures as foundational elements to the start of this blog and because they are important not only to me but to all. These words from the Holy scriptures speak the highest and most important knowledge for mankind.

"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life." -Jn. 5:24

Truth

"You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." quote from Jesus -Jn: 8:32 (KJV)
